KOKKINOPILOS - KITROS - XEROLAKKI

This is one of the lesser known, but incredibly beautiful routes that Mount Olympus has to offer. Setting out from Kokkinopilos (1.100 m) in the direction of Roudi spring (1.800 m) the route passes through a thick forest. On arriving at the clearing with the spring, which it should be noted does not supply water year round ascend to the ridge line which connects the peaks of Anthimos (1.198 m) and Kitros (2.416 m).

The view from Kitros peak is absolutely stunning. From here follow the ridge line from Kitros (2.416 m) – Nana (2.284 m) – Steni Salatoura (2.089 m) from which there is an impressive view of the high peaks.

After Steni Salatoura take the path to the right which descends steeply through a field and leads to a sheep pen.

Continue down to the road which leads to Xerolakki Stream and to Mega.

Then choose between taking the road to Petra village or following Xerolakki Stream to meet the same road a little lower down.
